Andy Hickes opened his architectural rendering office in Manhattan after graduating from Carnegie Melon University. He founded the New York Society of Renderers, the NYSR (www.NYSR.com), in 1985 and as president started the NYSR Portfolio, a full color publication of the work of NYSR members which is sent to over 5000 architects and designers in the NYC area every four years. He was a founding member of ASAI, the American Society of Architectural Illustrators, and his work has been in many of its annual exhibitions including the recent 25th annual juried show held in Tokyo Japan. He was the only ASAI member selected for Japan that had also been selected 25 years earlier for inclusion in their first competition.
After working for many years in traditional media, mainly airbrush, he switched to computer in 1993. In 2003 he was honored as the Photoshop Guru of the Year in illustration, at PhotoshopWorld-Los Angeles. His work has been www.VisMasters.com’s Image of the Week several times.
This year his work is featured along with 20 other rendering firms from around the world in Construction & Design Manual, Architectural Renderings published by DOM publishers in Germany.
