Best in Show 2011 Kevin Scott

The Ken Roberts the most senior architectural drawing competition currently in operation anywhere in the world. Although this statement would hint on old and tired, just a look at last years winners and the list of this years jurors shows that this competition is going strong and worth entering. This competition with its strong student participation may make it one the the biggest influencers over today’s architectural visualization world. And if that were not enough, the prizes are really terrific!

The competyition is open to all architecture students, professionals and architectural illustrators throughout the world. Prizes at both the student and professional level are awarded to works done by hand as well as by digital methods.

Awards

  • The Award for Excellence in Hand Delineation

One Wacom Inklin and one licensed copy each of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6Corel Painter 12, and CorelCAD is awarded to the best student and professional entries that embodies and celebrates the art of architecture as a tool for communication through hand delineations, sketches and renderings. Professional submissions should be the result of commissioned projects, while student entries need not be based in reality, but must be hand drawn for consideration in this category.

  • The Award for Excellence in Digital/Hybrid Media

One Doghouse Laptop Computer and one licensed copy each of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6Corel Painter 12Corel PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate, and Corel DESIGNER Technical Suite X5 is awarded to the best student and professional entries that demonstrate excellence through an innovative use of media. Submissions may be digital, or hybrid mixed media with preference given to those that push the envelope of architectural representation.

  • The Richard B. Ferrier Prize for Best Physical Delineation

In response to the large majority of entries being submitted electronically, this prize has been created to highlight and honor the unique properties inherent to physical drawings. KRob has traditionally been an event that honored physical submissions, and this prize is intended to maintain this practice. To be considered for this prize, the entry must be submitted physically to the AIA Dallas office. Please carefully follow the instructions for physical submissions above. For entrants registered with a U.S. mailing address only. The winner of this category will be awarded one licensed copy of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 and one licensed copy of Corel Painter 12.

  • The Kevin Sloan Prize for Best Travel Sketch

This award acknowledged individuals interested in the time honored activity of drawing architecture and places to learn and understand. In lieu of drawings made to “interpret” drawings submitted for this category are made to observe, analyze and record in a sketchbook. A Wacom Inkling will be awarded to the best travel sketch entry.

  • Jurors Citation

$100 cash is awarded by each of the jurors. These citations allow the jurors to independently select any student or professional piece that they personally wish to see recognized.
